My Week in Pictures

Septemeber has been great in Orkney.  Lovely warm sunny days where you can still sit outside at times.  It won’t be long I’m sure when we make the mad dash from the house to the car and endure wet and windy misery for seemingly and age, but for now, it’s been superb.  I still take trips to the beach as often as I can.  I’ve often said there’s no place that makes me happier than being by the waves and the same can be said for the dog.  Half the fun is announcing ‘walkies’ to her and watch her go completely mental, doing near somersaults as she shakes with anticipation for me to get my coat on. Once we get to the beach she spends most of her time just digging in the same spot looking for that elusive stone.  This week we both got wet feet when the tide came in quicker than expected.

This photo of Miss Lashes was taken by her boyfriend NotPhil.  I just love it so I’m going to share it for no other reason than that.

I also had to share this with you.  This lass from work is T~I~N~Y and very sporty which I guess is why she could eat a roll all most the size of her and get away with it.  Life can be so cruel I said with jealousy.

I mean look at it!

During today’s trip to the beach, I managed to collect a lot of driftwood. The amount of litter that gets washed up on the beach is upsetting and something I always upset to see, but driftwood I love.  I would really like to have a go at carving or making something out of the wood I’ve collected as some of it is too interesting to burn. Maybe it can be a winter project. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the some of the last of the early Autumn sunshine and skies.

Sunsets are getting earlier and less dramatic but still remind me I live in a great place.

Finally, I was given this wee gift from someone at church this morning.  A long time ago, nearly two years, I gave a message in church based around this and it seemed to stick. I am  still regularly called Miss Sparkle now and am given gifts which say sparkle in them.  I was very touched that someone saw this and thought of me and it’s great words to live by.  I think the only word missing is laugh. I laugh a lot and on Friday I laughed so much with friends that my stomach hurt from it.  Laughter really is the best medicine.

Have a great week everyone, and  I hope you find your own way to live, love, sparkle and laugh.

  1. Stumbled on your blog because of the photography tag, and it’s not the sort of stuff I normally read, but just wanted to say that this was actually really nice – to see how somebody else lives in what I tend to consider as ‘the end of the world’ (no offence meant!). Some really nice photos there and the one of your daughter is a great capture… just looks so happy. Have a great week!

  2. Love the sparkle. My daughter has a small poster above her bed saying “she leaves a little sparkle where ever she goes” sounds like you are the same. As for the laughter part you know of course that Audrey Hepburn coined the phrase “happiest girls are the prettiest”. Have a sparkly, giggly week
